Dorothy Mae Fahnestock, 79, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday morning, September 28, 2015, while vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland. Born July 13, 1936, in Burnt Cabins, PA, she was a daughter of the late John T. and Pearl A. Mock Shore. She had been employed at the former PET, Inc. in Chambersburg. Mrs. Fahnestock was a member of Christian Life Assembly of God. She had a passion for lost souls and was active with street and prison ministry.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Fahnestock, whom she married September 12, 1981; two daughters, Gloria Robinson and husband Steve of McConnellsburg and Joyce Zeger and husband Tony of Chambersburg; three step-children, Brenda Wenger and husband Ray of Mt. Vernon, GA, Karen Angle and husband Ron of South Mountain, PA, and Robert Fahnestock and wife Lana of Saxton, PA; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Bud Shore of Chambersburg; and five sisters, Larue Pierson of Fayetteville, Delores Thomas of Burnt Cabins, Leona Tritle of Chambersburg, Donna Maloney of Burnt Cabins, and Darlene Witten of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Thomas and Velda Deshong; and three brothers, Mervin Shore, Larry Shore, and John Shore, Jr.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 2, 2015, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Joe Pickens and Pastor Steve Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, October 1, 2015, and from 9:00-10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
