Dorothy L. “Dottie” Hornbaker Geiman, age 100, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, November 30, 2020 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Luther Ridge. Born August 19, 1920 in Kauffman Station, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Blanche McLucas Hornbaker. She was employed for 18 ½ years as manager of the children’s department at the former Bon-Ton Department Store in Chambersburg, retiring in May of 1989. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren in Chambersburg until recent years when she became a member of LifePoint Church. Her husband of 53 years, Robert L. Geiman, preceded her in death on April 17, 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Rubey of Burleson, TX; two grandsons, William Rubey of Fort Worth, TX and Charles Rubey of New York City, NY; a granddaughter, Michelle Kipe (Justin) of Chambersburg; a great-grandson, Jude Kipe; and a sister, Doris Jean Brown (Russel) of Fayetteville. She is also survived by two sisters-in-laws, Anabelle Hornbaker and Mildred Hornbaker; two nephews who were her caregivers, Lane Reineman and Clyde Bender; and a number of other nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael L. Geiman in 1995; four brothers, Frank, Russell, Harold, and Marvin; three sisters, Esther Morter, Frances Suders, and Catherine Bricker; and her son-in-law, Walter Rubey.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 11, 2021, in Lifepoint Church, 339 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Pastor Jan Diaz will officiate. It was Dottie’s request that flowers be omitted and contributions in her memory be made to Lifepoint Church, 339 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
