Dorothy Gift

Dorothy A. Gift, age 80, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Born March 17, 1933 in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Darner Kessler.
Mrs. Gift worked as a PBX operator in Daytona Beach, FL at the Dayton Memorial Hospital and locally at numerous textile factories, including the former Stanley Company. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, eating at Hoss’s, fishing, going to the beach, and cooking.
Surviving is her husband of 59 years, A. Wayne Gift, whom she married on March 26, 1954; six children, Vicki Rhone (husband Phillip) of Chambersburg, PA, Brenda Winkler (husband Randy) of Chambersburg, PA, Pamela Ambrose (husband Ira) of Bendersville, PA, Mark Gift (wife Rhonda) of Chambersburg, PA, Andrew Gift of Chambersburg, PA, and Lisa Gift of Chambersburg, PA; 22 Grandchildren, Shane, Holly, Jessica, Christopher, Richard, Rebecca, Jennifer, Samantha, Alan, Jeffrey, Faith, Katarina, Kiersten, Ira, Bryan, Adrianne, Adam, Chasidy, Brittany, Logan, Amy, and Belinda; and 15 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 6 PM at the Chambersburg Seventh Day Adventist Church, 160 East Liberty St., Chambersburg, PA 17201; where Pastor John Rengifo will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
