Dorothy J. “Dot” (Furry) Parr, 90, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at her home. Born August 25, 1930, in Scotland, PA, on the farm at the site of the Scotland School for Veterans Children, she was the daughter of the late David and Alice Gail (Carmack) Furry.
Mrs. Parr worked at the former Stanley Company as a seamstress for 43 years, retiring in August 25, 1992. During her employment, she made a suit worn by the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson. She enjoyed housework, cooking, and baking.
Surviving are her nephews William Parr (wife Wendy) and Kenneth Parr (wife Diane) both of Orrtanna, PA and a number of other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James A. Parr in 2008; a son, David A. Parr in 1963; two brothers, John W. Furry and David Edward Furry; and four sisters, Janet L. Betz, Madoline Mae Parr, Nancy L. Faircloth, and Emma A. Mason.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 1, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, with Pastor Adam Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Scotland, PA. CDC social distancing and mask requirements will be in place.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday morning in the funeral home.
