Dorothy K. Pheil, 93, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on December 1, 1928 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Frank Keller and Martha Ellen Traxler Keller. She was the widow of Harold C. Pheil, whom she married on July 10, 1949. Harold preceded her in death on July 25, 2010.
A 1946 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Dot was named Color Day Queen and voted the most attractive girl in her senior class. Dorothy and Harold were lifelong members of St. John's United Church of Christ. Years ago Dot worked for the T.M. Zimmerman Company and then North and South Trucking Lines as an Administrative Secretary. She was active throughout her career with the American Business Women's Association. During her retirement, she worked for F&M Trust and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, playing cards, Math games and puzzles and she reluctantly fell in love with many family rescued cats and dogs over the years.
She is survived by her daughter, Claire L. Shively of Chambersburg; granddaughter, Nicole S. (Tom) Geisel; and great grandchildren, Atlee and Jack Geisel, all of Chambersburg. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Helen Myers, Edna Staley, and Edith Osterman; and one brother, Leroy Keller.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th, in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, with visitation from 1:30 - 2:00 pm. Rev. Caroline E. Saxton will officiate. Interment will be private. West Chambersburg, PA 17201.
