Dorothy Rice

Dorothy R. Rice, age 84, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Born in St. Thomas Township on November 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Harvey B. and Grace Snider Wenger.

Mrs. Rice was a 1952 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She worked in insurance and banking, retiring in 1997. She enjoyed shopping, travel, working with flowers, Native American events and culture, and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and beloved great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia K. Hendershot and husband James of McConnellsburg and Stephanie A. Rice and husband Ben Gomer of Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Amy Elvey of Chambersburg and Kimberly Heck and husband Randy of Chambersburg; and five great-grandchildren, Sage, Sarah, and Max Piper, and Meredith and Wade Elvey, and a sister, Phyllis Lesh and husband James of Ickesburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Leroy Rice on July 16, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Salem United Brethren Church, 4349 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Ron Cook and Rev. Art Page officiating. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, January 9 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
