Dorothy Ritchey

Dorothy R. Ritchey, 97, of Marion, PA, passed away Thursday evening, September 11, 2014 at the home of her son in Fayetteville. Born November 25, 1916 in Jackson Township, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Mary Gillin Griffith. She was a member of Marion First United Methodist Church and loved camping and square dancing. She was a fantastic cook and baker. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Merle L. Ritchey, preceded her in death on October 30, 1985.

She is survived by two sons, Duane Ritchey and wife Florence of Marion and Ronald Ritchey and wife Wally of Fayetteville; a daughter, Delores Hagerich and husband Clair of Johnstown, PA; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; two great-great-grandsons; three sisters, Viola Reed, Lillian Ritchey, and Wilma Gohn; one half-sister; and two half-brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. James Sollenberger and Rev. John Ile officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday, 6:00-8:00 PM Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
