Dorothy V. Stoner, age 95, of Chambersburg, PA, passed on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center. Born June 23, 1921 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Margie Virginia Harrison Lovett.
Mrs. Stoner worked at the former Swift and Company, the former Franklin County Children’s Home and the former J. Schoeneman Co., where she later retired. She was a member of John Wesley AME Zion Church and attended Unity in Christ Church.
Surviving are five grandchildren, Tracey Stoner of Fayetteville, PA; Tammy Stoner of Fayetteville, PA; Tawnya Harrison (husband Dion) of CT; Newton Stoner III of Johnstown, PA; and Brenda Jones (husband Kelvin) of Carlisle, PA; ten great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter, Aria Grant; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Newton E. Stoner, Sr. and two sons, Newton E. Stoner, Jr and Lucien M. Stoner; and four brothers; and four sisters.
A Home Going service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Dr. Allie Harper and Rev. Dr. Lois Waters will officiate. The family will receive friend on Wednesday, August 17 from 7 – 9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Lebanon Cemetery.
