Douglas A. Misner, 73, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 at his home. Born February 17, 1948 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Clarence W. and Lorraine Raby Misner. Mr. Misner was a 1966 graduate of the Waynesboro Area Senior High School and served with the Army National Guard. A truck driver most of his life he had been employed at the former Horn’s Motor Express in Chambersburg and Preston’s Trucking in Williamsport, MD. He retired in December of 2008 from Roadway. After retiring he worked as a delivery parts driver for NAPA from 2009 until 2017. He was a member of Grand Point Church where he coached softball and volunteered at the Welcome Center and drove the church van. He enjoyed playing softball; hunting; and had an interest in old cars.
He is survived by his wife, Lois A. Frey Misner, whom he married May 18, 1974; his son, Kevin A. Misner (Jessica) serving with the United States Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan; two daughters, Kathy A. Odegard (David) of Wharton, OH, and Christina M. Misner of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren, Abigail, Hannah, Luke, Andrew, Matthew, Sarah, Evelyn, Avery, and Isaac; and his sister, Nancy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Lawrence Metzler will officiate. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday evening and one hour prior to the service Friday afternoon in the funeral home.
