Dr. Howard Lebow

Dr. Howard M. Lebow, 64, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, March 5, 2017 in the emergency room of Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 19, 1952 in Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late Murray and Betty Adelman Lebow. A graduate of the Churchland High School in Portsmouth, VA, Dr. Lebow went on to earn degrees from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg and the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Specializing in Family Medicine, he practiced at the Lewis-Gale Clinic in Salem for nearly twenty years prior to moving to Chambersburg in 1999. He then joined Norland Family Practice at the Shippensburg office and continued to practice there until relocating to the Chambersburg location within the past two years. While living and working in Virginia, he was a long-time member of the Salem Rotary Club where he served as President from 1991-1992 and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. He volunteered at the Bradley Free Clinic in Roanoke and spent time at various companies in the local area that contracted with the Lewis-Gale Clinic. He had a life-long love for music, especially jazz, and enjoyed playing the piano. Dr. Lebow filled his spare time staying current with technology and making things by hand, including cross-stitch.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger Mattox Lebow, whom he married April 2, 1992; his daughter, Stephanie Ganz and husband Seth; and his granddaughter, Lily Byrd Ganz, all of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Lebow and wife Jan of Virginia Beach, VA; his niece Jennifer; and his nephew Mitchell.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 PM Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dr. Lebow’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
