Dr. J. Garry Beidler, 82, a resident of Menno Haven died on Saturday, December 30, 2018. Born April 10, 1936, he was the son of the late J. Willis and Martha Beidler, and was raised in Biglerville, PA, where he graduated from high school in 1954.
Garry later graduated from Bucknell University in 1958 and received an MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1962. He completed his medical residency while serving in the U.S. Navy. Dr. Beidler practiced Dermatology in Chambersburg for 30 years and was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and attending local concerts and plays, taking long walks in his neighborhood, watching and reciting lines from “classic” movies, and demonstrating his expertise in trivia and Scrabble. Garry was a devoted son, husband, brother, father, and grandfather, as well as an active Bucknell alumnus. He made visiting his family and spending time together with family a priority.
Garry is survived by two sons, Andrew Beidler (husband of Kimberly) of Yardley, PA and Christopher Beidler of Bloomington, IN; a sister, Deborah Dean (wife of Robert) of New Smyrna Beach, FL; a brother, Philip Beidler (husband of Ellen) of Tuscaloosa, AL; and two grandsons, Samuel and Peter Beidler, of Yardley, PA. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, J. Kay Beidler.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 4, 2019, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:00 AM; interment is private.
