Dr. Stephen J. "Steve" Overcash, 77, of Chambersburg, passed into God's Paradise on Friday morning, August 12, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Elise, of 52 years; sons David (Elizabeth) of Boise, ID, and Michael of Chambersburg; grandchildren, Adan, Everett, and Alexandra Overcash; one sister Jill (Larry) Witter; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was the son of the late Ginny and Jay Overcash.
Steve Overcash gave of himself in every way, in every generous thing he did. He loved his wife, and his boys, and he was a good and loyal friend. Steve was a man of integrity and had a sterling reputation. He was lots of fun, and lit up every room he entered, where everyone was waiting for a joke he always had ready. He had many great friends, some for a lifetime, including his Sigma Chi Fraternity brothers.
Steve was a 1963 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, and earned his Bachelor's degree from Dickinson College, Master’s degree from the University of Delaware, and his Doctorate from the University of Virginia. He then returned to start his career in Chambersburg as the area's first Doctor of Psychology, one that would span 42 years, seeing four generations of families across three counties.
His membership and board responsibilities were simply a part of his loving, generous nature. A member of the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring for 45 years, he served his church in the choir and as an Elder on the Personnel and Healing committees. He also served as board member and president of both Occupational Services, Inc. (O.S.I.) and the Chambersburg Rotary Club for 40 years.
Steve's family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. His memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, in the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, 221 N. Main St. Chambersburg, with the Rev. Dr. Andy Hart officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to O.S.I. 17 Redwood St. Chambersburg, PA 17201, or by visiting
