E. Elaine Miller

E. Elaine Miller, 95, of Chambersburg, PA, died Sunday afternoon, July 29, 2012 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 3, 1917 in Greensburg, MD, she was a daughter of the late Clayton L. and Edith Miller Gardner. Mrs. Miller was a 1935 graduate of the former Washington Township High School and was employed for 27 years at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg, retiring in April of 1979. Prior to working at the Stanley Company she had been employed at the former H.J. Heinz Company in Chambersburg. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Orrstown and Grace Lutheran Church in Lakeland, FL. Her husband of 72 years, Glenn Rahauser Miller, whom she married January 21, 1938, preceded her in death on March 27, 2010.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Bender of Scotland, PA; her son, Glenn Raymond Miller and wife M. Linda of York, PA; three grandchildren, Ronda Rotz and husband Joel of Mechanicsburg, Pamela Bender-Brown and husband Charles of Chambersburg, and Todd Bender and wife Sandy of Upper Strasburg; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Conner and Doris Wolford.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 2, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Kathleen G. Coleman will officiate. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
