E. Gale Monn

E. Gale Monn, 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at her home. Born March 11, 1940 in Altoona, PA, she was a daughter of the late Paul Usevius and Dorothy Louise Hendrickson Bowser. Gale was a 1961 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was employed as a custodian with the Chambersburg Area School District for many years, most of the them at the High School, prior to her retirement in 2004.
She was a member of the Fourth Street Church of the Brethren. In her younger years she enjoyed art, especially painting, and later in life she spent time gardening. The joy of her life was raising her four daughters. Her husband, Roger K. Monn, whom she married May 7, 1966, preceded her in death on June 24, 1997.

She is survived by three daughters, Lynn Hamsher (Robert) of Fayetteville, Robin Monn of New York, NY, and Cindy Seckman (Billie) of West Virginia; six grandchildren, Christopher Carbaugh, Ginger Fleming (Terry), Cory Carbaugh, Kenneth Martin (Emily), Noreen Tarner, and Joseph Tarner (Kathryn); nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Neal Bowser of Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Carbaugh Barnhart in 2000; two brothers, Byron and Gerald Bowser; and two sisters, Sharon Reed and Leslie Clark.

A service to celebrate Gale’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 26, 2017 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
