E. Ruth (Truett) Hain, 85, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday night, June 7, 2021 at Providence Place. Born September 20, 1935 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Edna (Thompson) Truett and widow to the late Ralph Hain, whom passed away in 2010.
A 1953 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Ruth went on to work at the Stanley Company in Chambersburg and then at Letterkenny Army Depot where she was a clerical secretary, retiring after 30 plus years of service. Mrs. Hain was a devoted follower of Christ. She dedicated many hours of her life reading the Bible, volunteering in the prison ministry and was a long time member of the Freedom in Christ Church in Chambersburg and the Womens Aglow Fellowship. She volunteered at area nursing homes, as well as for the Blood Mobile and at Emmaus Acres.
Surviving are her children, Frank Davenport (wife Ruthie) of Chambersburg, and A.J. Davenport (wife Mary Anne) of Mercersburg; three grandchildren, Ryan Davenport (wife Steph), Linde Miller (husband Travis), and Sarah Davenport; two great grandchildren, London and Brady Davenport; and her sister, Sarah Davenport of Hagerstown, MD.
In addition to her husband, Ralph Hain, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Davenport, son, Michael; and nine siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Freedom in Christ Church, 4042 Sycamore Grove Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor John Pogue will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
