E. Pauline "Polly" George

November 13, 1929 — April 3, 2017

E. Pauline “Polly” George, age 87, of Willow Hill, PA, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab. Born November 13, 1929, in Concord, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Yocum Coons.
Polly worked as a teacher’s aide early in life and then as a bartender at the American Legion Post 232, in Dry Run, PA for over 30 years. She also worked at Lakeview Restaurant in Fannettsburg, PA. She was a staple on the local dance floors, cutting a rug. She also enjoyed going out to eat with family, working outside, reading the newspaper, taking long car rides, and feeding and watching her birds.
Surviving are four children, Charles J. Shoop (wife Bernadine) of Shade Gap, PA, Linda D. Clark (husband Charles) of Spring Run, PA, Rebecca C. Green of Willow Hill, PA, and Catherine H. Ford of Chambersburg, PA; a grandson, Derek Manikas; and a sibling, Took Wiser. In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her first husband, Jay Shoop and her second husband Ray George, as well as eight siblings, and a son, George A. Shoop.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 5:00 PM at Shady Pine Mennonite Church, Willow Hill, PA, where Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Rd., suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
