Earl Jansen

March 31, 1935 — July 17, 2013

Earl H. Jansen, 78, of Chambersburg, PA, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, July 17, 2013 in the emergency room of Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 31, 1935 in Little Chute, WI, he was a son of the late Henry and Loretta E. Coenen Jansen. He earned a BS in Engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee and retired as a Quality Assurance/Technical Manager from the former James River Corporation in Chambersburg on August 1, 1990 after many years of service. He attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church for many years, was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1426 and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #600, all in Chambersburg. Mr. Jansen was an eclectic music connoisseur and an avid reader of non-fiction. He especially enjoyed reading about current events and history.

He is survived by three sons, Randy A. Jansen and wife Melody of Chambersburg, Mark A. Jansen and wife Marie of Columbia, MD, and Timothy J. Jansen and wife Vicki of Waynesboro, VA; a daughter, Linda S. Strite of Chambersburg; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Yvonne M. Butts and husband Lyle of Menasha, WI. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Rita Jansen; a brother-in-law, Paul Dohr; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene R. Jansen; a sister, Elaine Dohr; and a grandson, Shaun Jansen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Paul Theisz officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

It was Mr. Jansen’s request that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
