Earl E. Snyder, 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday morning, November 17, 2016 at Penn Hall Nursing Center. Born November 11, 1924 in West Branch, Iowa, he was a son of the late Albert and Della Mae Myers Snyder. Earl was a 1942 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and served with the US Army in Korea near the end of WWII. He retired from The Butcher Shoppe in Chambersburg where he had worked for many years. Earl was a member of the Chambersburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed traveling and collecting arrowheads. He was an avid hunter in his younger years. His wife, Betty Stewart Snyder, whom he married October 8, 1967, preceded him in death on August 10, 2016.
Earl is survived by a brother, Robert Snyder of Waynesboro; a sister, Lois George of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Mr. Greg Rockwell will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Avenue, or to the Chambersburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, 160 East Liberty Street, both in Chambersburg, PA 17201.
