Edgar B. Bard, III, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD. Born July 1, 1950 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late E. Bruce Bard, Jr. and Mildred “Lorraine” (Gates) Bard, and widower of the late Joyce F. Bard, who preceded him in death on December 17, 2012.
Ed attended Penn State University where he was a member of the Penn State Chapter of Iota Lambda Sigma fraternity. He then earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Shippensburg University, where he majored in counseling. He was the director of student services for Franklin County Career and Tech School. In 1996 he was named in the International Who’s Who of Professionals Directory. He was also an advisor of the youth clubs of F.B.L.A and SkillsUSA (VICA).
Locally, Ed was a social member of the VFW Post 1599, Elks Lodge BPOE #600, where he was on the board of trustees, the Chambersburg Moose Lodge #842, P.S.E.A and P.S.S.A.A., and the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. He enjoyed socializing and camping at Saunderosa. What he loved most of all was spending time with his grandsons.
Ed is survived by his children, Andrew M. Bard and wife Stephanie of Williamsport, MD, and Erin M. Landis and husband Joshua of Chambersburg; three grandsons; Gage and Brady Landis and Drew Bard; three step grandchildren, Ashley Torres, Autumn and River Willingham; two great-grandchildren, Easton and Emmerson Torres; siblings Connie R. Estep (Rick), Donna K. Harrison, and Dennis K. Bard (Georganna); step-sister Lynn Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Church, 2509 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Colin Raab will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association at www.als.org or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation at www.michaeljfox.org.
