Edith Blanche Lawver Lyons, age 93, of Chambersburg, formerly of Delaware Twp., Juniata County, died on Friday, January 06, 2012 in her home. Born on September 24, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Jennie S. Naylor Lawver. She was the widow of Calvin Morgan Lyons, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1982.
A member of East Salem Otterbein United Methodist Church, she was employed years ago as a seamstress. She also worked in a restaurant before moving to Franklin County on August 21, 1945. She then worked as a lab technician at the former Samuel G. Dixon Hospital, now Mountain Restoration Center. Her interests included caring for her beloved dog, Buddy; immaculately manicuring her gardens, and making ceramic figurines, which she displayed throughout her home. She is survived by three sisters, Esther Davis of Thompstown, PA, Martha Delancy and Anna Mae Bashore, both of Mifflintown, and also numerous nieces and nephews. Aside from her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dixie Lee, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, January 9, 2012 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. William Kauffman will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.
