Edith A. Schaffer, 90, formerly of Bender Avenue in Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Chambers Pointe with her husband at her side. Born January 20, 1930 in Palmerton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Sarah Borger Silfies. Mrs. Schaffer was a 1947 graduate of the Palmerton High School and went on to graduate from the Bethlehem Business School with high honors. A homemaker most of her life, she also was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business for many years and had served as secretary of numerous organizations. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church; the Order of Eastern Star, and the Valley Cedarettes. She loved line dancing at the Senior Center and enjoyed volunteering with Joy-El Ministries’ Bible Release Time.
Mrs. Schaffer is survived by her husband, Leland L. Schaffer, whom she married April 28, 1951; daughter, Charlene Van Scyoc (Randal) of Chambersburg; son Thomas Schaffer (Lori) of Fayetteville; and grandsons Daniel and Jacob. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Silfies; and two sisters, Violet Christman and Minerva Hillman.
Services will be private. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA.
