Edith Kathleen “Dolly” Shoop, 93, of Chambersburg, PA, died Thursday morning, August 1, 2013 at Menno Haven. Born April 27, 1920 in Nyesville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Eber Jacob Wenger and Grace Lenora Hammond Wenger. Her husband, Glenn Abram Shoop preceded her in death on July 11, 1983.

Dolly worked at the former Stanley Co. as a seamstress then went on to work at Corning Glass. She was a member of Marion United Methodist Church. An accomplished seamstress, Dolly’s passion was sewing. She enjoyed making her own clothes as well as her family’s clothes throughout her lifetime.

Dolly is survived by five children, Nancy Jean Reymer of Mt. Joy, PA, Thomas Eber Shoop and wife Darlene of Woolwich, NJ, Glenn Abram Shoop, Jr. and wife Evie of Marion, PA, Barbara Ann Downin of Emmitsburg, MD, and Jeffrey Lee Shoop and wife Lelia of Wolfsville, MD; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Brown and Emma Grace Atherton. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by, two grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Marion First United Methodist Church, 94 Colorado St. Marion, PA, where Rev. Chris Renner will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Marion United Methodist Church general memorial fund at the aforementioned address.
