Edith I. Wenger, age 97, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Manor Care Health Services. Born January 19, 1919, in Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Mary E. Burkhart Forrester.
Mrs. Wenger was a 1936 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She later worked at the Chambersburg Hospital in food service. She attended Salem United Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday School in her earlier years, she also had attended The Open Door Church, and Christian Life Assembly.
Surviving is one daughter, Judy Appleby (husband Harold) of Chambersburg; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Wenger; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Chester E. Wenger; a granddaughter, Candace Vaughn; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Edna Shatzer and Helen Brechbill.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Steve Barnett and Pastor Leroy Wiley will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
