Edna College

Edna M. (Shaffer) College, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 in Chambersburg. Born August 2, 1928 in Napier Township, PA, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Annie Helsel Shaffer.

Edna is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Eldon J. College, whom she married on March 22, 1952; two daughters, Rita R. Hoffman and husband, Rick, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Carol J. Wright and husband, Larry, of Chambersburg, PA; one brother, James Shaffer, of York, PA, and four beloved grandchildren, Ryan Hoffman and wife, Heather, Rusty Hoffman and wife, Paula, Kristin Wright and Chelsey Wright, all of whom called her “Nanny.” Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Shaffer, and three sisters, Ada Ruth Shaffer, Kate Beegle and Doris Callihan.

Edna enjoyed working with friends for many years at Wrights’ Apple Packing House in Spring Hope. She was a long-time serving member of Point Church of the Brethren and currently attended Christian Missionary Alliance in Chambersburg.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Dennis D. Chisholm officiating. Interment at Fishertown Cemetery will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
