Edna C. Hussong George, 97, of Chambersburg, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services. Born on May 3, 1916 in Williamson, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Minnie V. Kriner Hussong. A member of The Open Door Church and The Jolly 60’s, Edna worked 21 years as a seamstress at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg, while also working at home as a seamstress, retiring at the age of 82 in 1998. Her hobbies included sewing and flower gardening.
Edna is survived by her step-son Ronald L. George and wife Faye of Spring Run, PA; a sister, Ruth (Mrs. James) Cullison, of Chambersburg, PA; a step-brother, Carl Barnes of Greencastle, PA; 2 step-grandaughters; a step-grandson; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Lloyd Wagner on August 17, 1978; Richard M. Brown, on March 2, 1992; and Miles George on July 25, 2009. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; a step-daughter, Dale Smith; and a step-son, Vince George.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11:00AM at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. The Rev. Mike Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
