Edna Kieffer

Edna G. Kieffer, age 97, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015, at the Shook Home. Born July 13, 1917, in Scotland, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harper and Grace Skinner Gontz.

A 1935 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Mrs. Kieffer worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Guilford Convalasorium for 13 years, retiring in 1980. She also worked at the former Stanley Company for 18 years. Mrs. Kieffer was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She enjoyed working around her house, bowling in the senior bowling league, and sewing.

Surviving are two children, Gweneth Alleman (husband Dennis) of Chambersburg, PA and Gretchen Kieffer of Shippensburg, PA; nine grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dick H. Kieffer in 1980 and five siblings, Goldie MacIntire, Cardinal Gontz, Delbert Gontz, Rachael O’Conner, and Jane Kline.

Funeral services will be held in her honor on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Barbara Hutcheson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
