Edna Mackey

September 29, 1922 — June 19, 2018

Edna D. Mackey, 95 of Waynesboro, PA, died Tuesday evening, June 19, 2018 at Quincy Village. Born September 29, 1922 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Fred K. and Fannie Dice Rife. A hard worker, Mrs. Mackey worked alongside her husband on the family farm early in their marriage. She was later employed at Corning in Greencastle for twenty-five years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg and a former member of Otterbein United Brethren Church in Waynesboro. She enjoyed spending time with her family; she loved little children; enjoyed working puzzles; collecting dolls; working on family genealogy; and making people laugh. She will be remembered by many for her homemade noodles and her butterscotch pies. Her husband, Amos H. Mackey, Jr., whom she married June 4, 1942, preceded her in death on September 20, 2005.

She is survived by two daughters, Doris M. Stoner and husband Ronald P., and Joann L. Lockbaum and husband Richard A.; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Mackey, all of Waynesboro; seven grandsons, Lynn R. Stoner and wife Rhonda, Kirk P. Stoner, Lonnie E. Stoner and wife Crystal, Jeffrey J. Metcalfe and wife Tracy, Joseph M. Metcalfe and wife Lisa, Jeremy E. Metcalfe and wife Melissa, and Timothy A. Mackey of Chambersburg, a step-granddaughter, Christina S. Miller and friend Tracy Hight; eight great grandchildren, Andy Stoner and wife Becky, Donnie Stoner and wife Kari, Courtney Stoner, Chelsey Turner, Benjamin Metcalfe and wife Elizabeth, Emily Metcalfe, Kayla Ore and husband Andrew, and Rowan Mackey; a step-great grandson Derrick Shockey; and nine great-great grandchildren, Blake, Wyatt, Gracie, Taelynn, and Maddi Stoner, Lucas Turner, Dawson Ore, Farrah Ore, and Landon Metcalfe. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald E. Mackey on October 1, 2012; four brothers, Melvin, Jay, Don, and Garnet Rife; and three sisters, Fern Martin, Helen Dice, and Grace Dice. A fifth generation grandmother, it was Mrs. Mackey’s wish five years ago to see the birth of her first great-great-grandchildren and she was blessed to see the birth of nine.
