Edna Peterson

Edna V. Peterson, age 88 of Fayetteville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in her home with her family at her side. Born March 25, 1923 in Smithsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Sadi Pound Leather.

A homemaker all her life, Mrs. Peterson enjoyed sewing, spending time cooking and baking, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Peterson was a participant of the LIFE Lutheran Services. She enjoyed the beauty in the outdoors and all the variety of color among the seasonal flowers.

Surviving is her son Jay Peterson and his wife Dorothy of Fayetteville, PA; two grandchildren, Melissa LaFontaine and husband Gary and Vicki Eberhart and husband Chad; and four great grandchildren, Bryce and Alli Eberhart and Mia and Logan LaFontaine. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore E. Peterson on September 27, 2005 and siblings, Elmer “Bud” Leather, Catherine Smith, Sara Peterson, Harold Leather, and Virginia Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Mike Baumgardner and Pastor Tom Willis will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
