Edward L. Aleksejus, 91, formerly of 5434 Fairway Drive West, Fayetteville, PA, died at 12:45 PM Friday, January 4, 2013 at College View Nursing Home, Frederick, MD. Born September 9, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Louis and Stella Aleksejus. A US Army Air Corps veteran, he served during WWII in General Patton’s army in the European Theater. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waynesboro and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg. Mr. Aleksejus was of member of the Knights of Lithuania. His wife, Stephanie Miltenis Aleksejus, whom he married October 11, 1942, preceded him in death on June 14, 2009.
He is survived by three children, Donald E. Aleksejus (and wife, Barbara) of Ooltewah, TN, Susan Kakacek (and husband, Michael) of San Antonio, TX, and Stephen Aleksejus (and wife, Susie) of Myersville, MD; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister, Elvira Barris of Nevada.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, January 10, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. James R. O’Brien will officiate. Private interment will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery.
