Edward Braun

June 3, 1924 — January 14, 2012

Edward G. Braun, age 87, of Fayetteville, PA and formerly of Doylestown, PA; passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 3, 1924 in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late George J. and Irene Harman Braun.

A U.S. Army-Air Corps veteran, Mr. Braun served honorably during WWII. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri, School of Mines and Metallurgy at Rolla in 1949, pursuing a career as an engineer for a number of companies through out his career, and retiring with Allis-Chalmers in 1989. In addition to being an amateur arborist, he enjoyed singing in the church choir and photography.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Rakowski Braun, whom he married on June 4, 1949; his children, William T. Braun (wife Ilene) of Herndon, VA, Dr. Robert E. Braun (wife Linda) of Fort Wayne, IN, Stephen G. Braun of Falls Church, VA, Carol B. Kline (husband Dana) of Knoxville, MD, and Mary B. Stangl (husband Joseph) of Lincoln University, PA; his grandchildren, Kristen, Daniel, Stephen, Maxwell, Catherine, Benjamin, and Peter Braun, and Derek and Gregory Kline, and Theresa and Emily Stangl; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Green.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 1 PM; where Rev. Fr. Keith Carroll will celebrate. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery with military honors provided by the Charles Nitterhouse, Post 1599, VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 6-7 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where the Rosary will be recited at 7 PM.
