Edward Casseday

Edward P. Casseday, 86, of Chambersburg, PA, died Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012 at his home. Born September 7, 1926 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Hazel Eleanor Stake Casseday. He was a 1944 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and a graduate of the former Eckel’s School of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia. A US Navy veteran of WWII, he was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot following his discharge from the military. Mr. Casseday then transferred to the Social Security Administration working in the Chambersburg office until his retirement in 1986 after more than forty years of federal service. Following his retirement he continued to work part-time for a number of years with the Social Security Administration. He was an active life-long member of First Lutheran Church, a life member of B.P.O.Elks Lodge #600 and Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; and held membership in Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion and NARFE Chapter 1063, all in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Celena Heckman Casseday, whom he married July 28, 1962; his daughter, Stacey Schuler and husband Tim of Chambersburg; and two granddaughters, Kylee Schuler of Boulder, CO and Kameron Schuler of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Semple; and two step-sisters, Louise Luckenbaugh and Lucille Martin.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 22, 2012 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Stephen Dorsett officiating. Private interment will be at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon-1:00 PM Saturday at the church.
