Edward A. “Bud” Kauffman, age 82, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 27, 1932 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Adam B. and Hazel Carbaugh Kauffman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alma Dorothy Ford Kauffman in 1991.
A U.S. Army veteran, Bud served honorably during the Korean Conflict and in the Army Reserves until his retirement in 1983 after 33 years of service. He continued his service at Letterkenny Army Depot as a Security Officer, retiring in 1987 after 38 years of service. Bud was a member and President of the Orrstown Senior Center and a Life member of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599. He was also a member of Harvest Time Ministries Church. Bud enjoyed his dogs, planting flowers, woodworking, following NASCAR, birdwatching, fishing and hunting.
Surviving are four children, Dennis E. Kauffman (wife Tena) of Chambersburg, PA; Rick L. Kauffman (wife Mary) of Ft. Loudon, PA; Tina Leedy of Shippensburg, PA; and Teresa Leevy (husband Gene) of Williamson, PA; his companion of 23 years, Beverly A. Hinkle; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Bennett, Dave, and Cliff Kauffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken and Welty Kauffman and two sisters, Geraldine Ervin and Minnie Cowan.
Funeral services will be held in honor of Bud on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 18 from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
