Edward “Ed” Raymond Mikulich, Sr., 83, of Chambersburg, PA, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in his home in Potomac, MD, following an extended illness. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Mikulich, on January 4, 2004 following 45 years of marriage. Born March 2, 1929, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Duhan) Mikulich. Upon moving to Fayetteville in 1998, Ed became a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg. He graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1947 and attended Clarion College before honorably serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.
Ed and his wife, Marge, met through the Catholic Youth Council in Pittsburgh in 1957, and married on Nov. 15, 1958, in Greensburg. After briefly living in Pomona, NY, Ed and Marge settled in Ellicott City, MD.
Ed worked in retail and furniture sales for over 40 years, starting his career with Robert Hall in Pittsburgh, and retiring from Pasadena Furniture in Pasadena, MD. Throughout his life, Ed enjoyed his children, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, and son-in-law.
Surviving is a son, Edward R. Mikulich, Jr., and his wife, Margaret, of Boyds, Md.; a daughter, Michelle Joyce, and her husband, CDR Mark McCulloch, US Navy, of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren: Edward “Mickey” R. Mikulich III, Jasia R. Mikulich, Samuel P. McCulloch, Sarah A. McCulloch, and Grace L. McCulloch; and a sister, Marianne Cook, of Pittsburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Monday, April 2, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, in Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday April 1, in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, at 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
