Edward E. Thompson, 98, of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Chambersburg, died at his Lakeland home on Sunday, November 29, 2015. He was born on December 7, 1916 in Tattyreagh, County Fermanagh, Ireland to the late Robert and Louisa Burnside Thompson. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, Ed served in tours in North Africa and Italy during the war. He also attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland. He retired in 1980 after a 32-year career as a serviceman with Potomac Edison. He also owned and operated a TV Repair shop on Lincoln Way West in Chambersburg many years ago. Ed was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, BPOElks Lodge 600, and the Civitan Club, all in Chambersburg. Ed is survived by his wife, Velma L. Morgan Thompson and her family, 5 Thompson nephews, and 4 Thompson nieces. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet Plough Thompson in 1998. The last of his immediate family, he was also preceded in death by 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 7, in Norland Cemetery, with Rev. Scott Bowerman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 40 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
