Edward C. Zimmerman, 80, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lebanon, PA, on June 10, 1937, to the late Richard P. and Kathryn (Wilhelm) Zimmerman. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School class of 1955, and Pennsylvania State University class of 1959, with a B.A. degree in Finance.
Ed spent most of his professional career in the insurance industry, serving as President of the McDowell Insurance Agency, which experienced sustained growth and success under his guidance. He had a generous spirit and was involved in many community endeavors. He served on the Board of Directors of Valleybank, The Shook Home, and the Board of Trustees of Wilson College. He was especially devoted to his church, the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and Financial Secretary for many years. He was also actively involved in the maintenance and preservation of Falling Spring Horse Valley Acres and the Historic Letterkenny Chapel, both of which he served for years as Treasurer.
Ed is survived by his brother Peter (Joy) Zimmerman of Chambersburg; daughter Kathryn (William) Doliber of Chesterfield, VA; daughter-in-law Wendy Zimmerman of Mill Hall, PA; and three grandchildren: Brian Doliber, Aimee Zimmerman, and Anson Zimmerman. He is also survived by step-daughter Katrina Best of Lakeridge, VA; step-son Donald Miller (Rebecca) of Centreville, VA; and four step-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his wife Helen Zimmerman, son Edward R. Zimmerman, grandson Adam Doliber, and brother Richard A. Zimmerman (Nancy).
A service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, with Rev. Dr. Andrew Hart officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring Memorial Park Fund in Ed’s memory.
