Eileen Casey Durand, 92, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022. Born June 7, 1929 in Messengerville, NY, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Clara Quinlivan Casey. Her beloved husband, Robert N. Durand, preceded her in death on June 30, 2013.
Eileen was a 1947 graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School. She was employed as a customer service representative for the county unemployment office until her retirement. Eileen was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, spending time with her family and also her furry grandchildren, Reba, Harley, and Bella.
She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Kriner (Richard) of St. Thomas, Stacey Estepp (Daniel) of Woodbridge, VA, and Margaret Durand of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Casey Prieston (Jonathan), Caitlyn Gossard (Winters), and Clare Kriner; three great grandchildren, Caylea, Eliza and Ezri; and her son-in-law, Melvin Hawbaker, Jr. of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, Eileen was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Hawbaker; and nine siblings, Margaret, Edward, Robert, Francis, Jimmy, Mary, Catherine, Jane and Sally.
Service and interment will be private. An Irish wake in Eileen’s honor will be planned later this Spring. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. Eileen enjoyed frequent walks around Norlo Park with Margaret, Stacey and Reba. Eileen also enjoyed the friendship and engagement with the staff and other members of the Menno Haven ElderDay community.
