Elden Newcomer, age 75 of Waynesboro, PA passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the Waynesboro Hospital. Born April 9, 1945 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Martin and Janet Mae George Newcomer.
Elden was a 1963 graduate of Quincy High School and continued his education at Waynesboro Business School. He worked for Corning and The First National Bank of Waynesboro before spending many years working at Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, MD before retiring. Elden served in the U.S. Army Reserves with the 357th Transportation Unit in Greencastle, PA and was a Vietnam veteran. He loved photography and an avid train collector. He photographed countless events including the Greencastle Old Home Week. He was also a PIAA umpire for baseball and softball, officiating in the surrounding areas.
He is survived by his brother, Ronald E. Newcomer (wife Sherry), their daughters’ Ashley M. Newcomer and Allison Kopco (Chris), their children, Jace and Noelle, and one sister, Bonnie N. Albright (husband John) all of Waynesboro, Pa., Brother-in-law, Arvid (Bud) Ingream (wife Norma), their children, Jeff Ingream (wife Robin), Lisa (Ingream) Hull (husband Tom) & Scott Ingream (wife Gwenda), Brother-in law, Jeffrey Ingream (wife Alice) and their children, Ami (Ingream) Myers & Jason Ingream (wife Jacinta) and several other great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Newcomer in 2018.
Graveside services in Cedar Hill Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
