Eldred W. “Skip” Remson, Jr., 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022, in Chambers Pointe.

Born October 13, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Eldred W. Remson, Jr. and Florence M. (Loughran) Remson.

Skip was a graduate of John Adams High School, Ozone Park, NY, class of 1948. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in business and finance from Bucknell University, class of 1952. He was a member of the SAE fraternity. After college he enlisted in the Army where he served in the Koren War until his honorable discharge in 1954.

Skip’s career began with a finance company and from there he was employed by Manufacturer’s Hanover Bank in New York City, NY. Upon leaving the bank, he began his employment with Ingersoll-Rand Co. in New Jersey, where he held the positions of controller and in later years was human resource manager. He retired from Ingersoll-Rand Co. in Shippensburg in 1995. After his retirement, he worked briefly as a consultant for the American Association of Industrial Management.

An active member of the community, Skip was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Butler, NJ. He belonged to the Chambersburg Evening Lion Club, where he served as president for two terms. Skip also served as president for two terms on the Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce where he helped organize the first Annual Corn Festival.

He served 27 years on the Board of Directors for Summit Health Affiliates, including 12 years on the Chambersburg Hospital Board of Directors, was a founding member of the Chambersburg Hospital Health Services Board, and served on the Investment, Finance, and Executive Committees.
Skip was a member of the South Central Preferred program rate committee for Wellspan, York.

Skip received many awards for his outstanding devotion to community service, including one from the Franklin County Area Vocation Technical School for establishing a work-release program. Skip was interviewed by a student at Faust for his involvement in the war effort as a young person during WWII. This interview is on file with the Library of Congress.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Linda K (Werner) Remson, three children: Gregory Remson (Nancy) of Chambersburg, PA; Eileen (Remson) Cox of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Brian Remson (LeAnn) of New Albany, IN; a daughter-in-law Stacy Gray (Jeff) of Shippensburg, PA; six granddaughters; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

A funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, February 25, 2022 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Father Andrew P. St. Hilaire officiating.

Visitation with the family and a time for sharing memories of Skip will be held 12:30 PM, Friday, February 25, 2022 in Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 S. 4th Street Chambersburg, PA 17201.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or Chambersburg Church of the Brethren.
