Eleanor L. “Ellie” Davidson, 94, of Chambersburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday afternoon, August 6, 2015 at Spiritrust Assisted Living. Born February 16, 1921 in East Orange, NJ, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Eleanor Powell Elder. Her beloved husband, John Davidson, preceded her in death in 2000.
A graduate of East Orange high School, Ellie went to work for Prudential Insurance. She later worked as a substitute teacher for special needs children in the Delaware School District until her retirement in 1986. An accomplished pianist, she loved to play the old hymns. Ellie attended Greenwood Hills Gospel Chapel in Fayetteville after moving from Broomall, PA.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lynn Brant (husband Gary); her son, Thomas James Davidson; three grandchildren; three siblings, Jean Wilson, James Elder, and Marion Taylor. In addition to her parents and husband, Ellie is preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Chambers.
A funeral service will be held to honor Ellie’s life at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2015 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Mr. Steve Hulshizer and Mr. Jeff Ward will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
