Eleanor Layton

Eleanor Layton, age 80, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Wellspan Gettysburg Hospital. Born January 5, 1943 in Woodbury, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Werner Herbert Bold and Alice Marie Owens. She was the last of her immediate family.

A 1961 graduate of Pittman High School in Pittman, NJ, Eleanor went on to attend cosmetology school. She worked as a hairdresser until she was in her mid 70’s. She always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed connecting and chatting with her many friends and clients. Eleanor also collected and sold jewelry. She was a dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church in Waldorf, Maryland. On Sunday afternoons, she enjoyed getting together with her extended family for dinner and watching the Washington Redskins / Commanders play.

A celebration of life service for Eleanor will be held at a later date with details to be announced. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
