Eleanor Leam, age 104, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Menno Village. Born May 23, 1917, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Blanche Baker Croft.
Mrs. Leam was a 1935 graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim High School and a 1939 graduate of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts. She continued with her graduate work at Temple University. She was a member of St. John's U.C.C. Church in Chambersburg, the VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg, and the American Legion in Waynesboro. Early in life, She helped in the family store in Greencastle, "Croft's Cut Rate Drug Store" and participated in Greencastle's "Old Home Week".
Surviving is her daughter, Susan Ashford of Santa Fe, NM; two nephews, Jeffrey Croft of Las Vegas, NV and Dr. Bradford Croft of Flagstaff, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John A. Leam in 1999.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 1 PM at Norland Cemetery, 2295 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201, where Pastor Caroline Saxton will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John's U.C.C., 1811 Lincoln Way E., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
