Eleanor Rutka

Eleanor B. Rutka, 93, a resident at Menno Haven and formerly of Shippensburg, PA, passed away at 2:10 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the nursing home. Born April 29, 1917 in Stuttgart, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Fred John and Elizabeth Amelia “Elsie” Beyer Bold. Eleanor was employed for twenty-seven years by New Jersey Bell as a telephone operator. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg, PA. Her beloved husband, Joseph Rutka preceded her in death in October of 1976.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Humm of Woodbury, NJ and Darlene Kyner and husband Timothy of Orrtanna; three grandchildren, Jennifer Humm and Jessica and Danielle Kyner. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Bill, and John Bold.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 14, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Robert Blezard will officiate. Interment will be in Eglington (NJ) Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.
