Elizabeth "Betty" Shipp

Elizabeth “Betty” Tice Shipp, 88, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday evening, October 4, 2021 at her home. Born January 18, 1933 in Chambersburg she was the daughter of the late Edgar N. and Ruth Eyer Tice. Betty was a 1950 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. She at one time drove a school bus and was then employed as a realtor in local real estate for many years and attained her broker’s license while working for Ralph Feldman. She later was employed at Bon-Ton in Chambersburg for a number of years. Betty is a member, an Elder, and a former Sunday school teacher at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Chambersburg. She is one of the founding members of the Norland Flower Club. Her hobbies include photography, scrapbooking, sewing and knitting, and she looked forward every year to volunteering at the Salvation Army Fabric Fair. Betty and Jerry enjoyed traveling and enjoyed wonderful trips to Hawaii and Germany. They also traveled twice to Japan in 1990 and 2000 with the Sister City group, but their favorite time was spent with their family every August in Cape May, NJ.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Shipp, whom she married June 13, 1954; four children, Dona S. Kegerreis (Rick) of Chambersburg, Jere R. Shipp (Sharon) of Chambersburg, Lisa S. Hess (Dennis) of St. Thomas, and Gina S. Rost (Thomas) of Lehigh Acres, FL; seven grandchildren, Austin Kegerreis (Candace), Lauren Roberts (Chase), Jere Ryan Shipp (Kara), Hali Cormany (Alex), Coleman Rost, Davis Rost, and Lauren Krosley Rost; and nine great-grandchildren, Addilyn Noel Kegerreis, Richard Grayson Kegerreis, Henry Austin Kegerreis, Millie Kate Kegerreis, Payton Elizabeth Roberts, Sophie Mae Roberts, Emory Lee Roberts, Jace Ray Shipp, and Anna Joy Cormany. Also surviving are a sister, Joanne Paine and a brother, Robert Tice, both of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Spencer Kegerreis; and a brother, Edgar Tice.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 30, 2021 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Caroline Saxton will officiate. Interment will be private. There will be no viewing or visitation.
