Elizabeth “Betty” F. Heckman, 84, of Biglerville, PA passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 in her home. Born August 9, 1940 in Altoona, PA she was the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Elizabeth C. (Cowen) Bixler.

She was a graduate of Germantown High School. Betty then went on to obtain her nursing certificate. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse for various nursing homes in the Philadelphia throughout her career. She retired as an LPN from South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, PA. Betty was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapters #392 and #342 in Gettysburg and Chambersburg. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and most of all traveling.

Betty is survived by her brother-in-law, Gerald D. Heckman and his wife Willie of Biglerville, PA; nephew, Jacob Heckman and his wife Mary Kate; cousin, Frank Palmisano and his wife Carol; and a number of other nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 19, 2024 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Kevin Witter officiating. Burial will follow in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday morning in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
