Elizabeth M. Patnychuk, 85, of Chambersburg, PA, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at York Hospital. Born November 1, 1932 in Colbert County, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Edward Maxwell and Bertha (Maxwell) Daniel. A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Patnychuk could often be found working in her yard and garden, although she most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a founding member of St. Mary Orthodox Church in Chambersburg, where she was always willing to help where needed. Among her many contributions were working with the Antiochian Women, serving on the Parish Council, providing outreach to the sick, and sponsoring new members. Her husband, John Patnychuk, whom she married on February 12, 1956, preceded her in death on February 2, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Bowers and husband James; her son, David J. Patnychuk; four sisters, Mildred Epperson, Joyce Gray, Shirley Tubbs, and Nancy Harrison; and her sister-in-law, Irene Patnychuk Weinacker and husband Adolf. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
A viewing will be held from 7:00-9:00 PM Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA where a Trisagion service will be conducted at 8:00 PM. There will be a viewing on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 10:00 AM until funeral services begin at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Orthodox Church, Chambersburg, PA, with a mercy meal to follow. Father Theodore Pulcini will officiate. Interment will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery, Hawk Run, PA.
