Elizabeth Pensinger

Elizabeth S. “Betty” Pensinger, age 90, of Chambersburg, PA passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital on Sunday, October 14, 2012. Born September 7, 1922 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Norman Arthur and Estella Frank Small.
Mrs. Pensinger worked at Letterkenny Ordinance Depot as an Accounting Clerk and at the Chambersburg Area School District as a Secretary until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Franklin County Retired Teachers Association, Menno Haven Auxilary, and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and attended Salem United Methodist Church. In her spare time Mrs. Pensinger enjoyed bowling, volunteering at Menno Haven, gardening and bird and animal watching.
Surviving is a step-daughter, Mary Jane “Janey” Benchoff (husband Rick) of Greencastle, PA, four step-grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren, two step great - great grandchildren, and her dearest friends and adopted family, Lee and Brenda Kessinger of Chambersburg, PA and their children, Carrie Lowe (husband Curt) of Fairfield, PA and children, Cylee and Casey Lowe, and Amy Angle (husband Matt) of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmert Ray Pensinger and step daughter, Joanne Pensinger.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Chaplain Robert Keener and Rev. Joseph Pickens will officiate. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Thursday. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Franklin Fire Co. #4, 70 North Franklin St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Grace United Church of Christ, 128 East Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
