Elmer Peterson

Elmer H. “Pete” Peterson, 82, of Chambersburg, PA, died early Tuesday morning, April 3, 2012 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born February 27, 1930 in Fannettsburg, he was the son of the late Elmer H. Peterson, Sr. and the late Winifred Horton Peterson Coover. Pete served in the US Army National Guard. He was employed as a truck driver with H.C. Gabler and Sons in Chambersburg for nearly thirty years. He was affiliated with Cornerstone Church of Christ and was a member of the Cumberland Valley Railroad Club. His hobbies included hunting and deep sea fishing.

Pete is survived by his wife, Louise J. Hammond Peterson, whom he married December 3, 1949; his son, Scott Peterson and wife Candace Rutherford of Greencastle; his daughter, Kimberly Peterson of Chambersburg; and his granddaughter, Rhiannon Peterson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Charles Coover.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, April 6, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
