Elton Guyer, Jr., age 81, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 8, 1931 in Willow Hill, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Mary C. Moore Guyer.
A US Army veteran, Elton served honorably in the Korean War. He was a self employeed painter most of his working life, he enjoyed the outdoors, country music, going to the Cabin, cross word puzzles, boating, and steam engines. He was a member of the VFW Post 655 in McConnellsburg, and the WV Sheriff’s Association.
Surviving is his companion of 37 years, Pearl Saunders of McConnellsburg, PA; former wife, Mildred M. Seville Guyer of McConnellsburg, PA; seven children, Vickie Evans of Shippensburg, PA; Victor Guyer (wife Tina) of McConnellsburg, PA; Elton Guyer (wife Karen) of Upper Horse Valley, PA; Calvin Guyer of McConnellsburg, PA; John Guyer (wife Teresa) of Hustontown, PA; William Guyer of Lewes, DE; and Jack Guyer of Coleman, FL; nineteen grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one sister, Arlene Guyer of Fannettsburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Chris Shearer and Stephen Guyer and four siblings, Viola Neil, Perle Guyer, Merle Guyer, and Norman Guyer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 1 PM at the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA; where Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Upper Path Valley Cemetery; where members of the McConnellsburg VFW Post 655 Honor Guard will conduct military honors . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the American Heart Association, 417 Phoenix Dr., suite A, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the American Lung Association, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
