Elva A. Musslewhite, age 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Elva was born April 30, 1922, in Tyler, TX, and was the daughter of the late Riley and Mary Marvin McElroy Adams. She was married to James E. Musslewhite on December 24, 1941. James preceded her in death in 2014.
Elva was a graduate of Tyler Junior College. With an affection for people and generous with her time, Elva was instrumental in the fundraising efforts at Paoli Hospital, where she served as President of the Paoli Hospital Auxiliary, and Northeastern Christian College. Elva was also a former President of the P.T.A in Orange, CT and a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization, the D.A.R., and the Questers Club.
Surviving is her son, Lon E. Musslewhite and his wife Kathleen of Potomac, MD; and three granddaughters, Sarah Worrall (husband Eric) of Richmond, VA, Elizabeth Lynch (husband Jason) of Ellicott City, MD, and Caroline Musslewhite of Potomac, MD; her great-granddaughter, Adeline Worrall, her brother Norris Adams of Dallas, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Lorene Bogle, Ouida Gill, Joanne Henry, Riley Adams Jr., and Autry Adams.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Menno Haven, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Chambersburg Church of Christ, P.O. Box 221, Chambersburg, PA 17201, where Elva and her husband, James, were members, or to the Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch on Long Island, where they were long-time donors, at 298 Middle Road, Riverhead, NY 11901 or online.
