Eric M. Bender, 43, of Chambersburg, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at his home. He was born in Carlisle, PA on September 14, 1977, to Beth and Dick Bender of Chambersburg. Eric was the owner and operator of the Beer Shed in Waynesboro, where he enjoyed meeting and interacting with his customers.
Many may remember Eric as a standout athlete for Chambersburg in the 1990s, who then went on to play baseball for James Madison University. And while his commitment to sports was obvious, Eric's life was defined, not by a batting average or free throw percentage, but by his accomplishments and involvement as a husband, father, son and friend. He loved to laugh, and his keen sense of humor and direct delivery had a way of making us all understand how to laugh at ourselves. Eric was real; his heart was huge; and we will continue to carry his love with us each and every day.
Aside from his parents, he leaves behind his wife, Megan; daughters, Alex and Cami; sister, Kate (Brandon) Cornwell; grandparents, Bob Jacobs (Connie) and Tank Bender (Sonnie), all of Chambersburg; father-in-law, Dave Sullivan of Waynesboro; mother-in-law, Kathy (Bill) Himmelreich of Wayne, PA; brothers-in-law, Davey (Cara) Sullivan of York and Tim Sullivan of Waynesboro; and many other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Annette (Frecon) Jacobs.
Funeral services for Eric will be private.
